The QLN Prestige Five Gen2 is a 2.5-way floorstanding speaker that represents the evolution of the renowned Prestige series, the result of over four decades of research, design, and development by the Swedish manufacturer. Compared to the first generation, Gen2 introduces significant improvements to the cabinet, crossover, and internal wiring, designed to offer an even more refined, dynamic, and natural listening experience.

The heart of the design remains the 184mm Kevlar® mid-woofer, developed in collaboration with Scan Speak, capable of reproducing instruments and vocals with extraordinary clarity and naturalness. However, in Gen2, the response is further optimized thanks to a 6dB first-order crossover with a more linear phase response, improving coherence between the drivers and contributing to a smoother, more relaxed sound compared to the previous version. The internal wiring has also been updated with higher-quality materials and improved shielding, reducing interference and noise and increasing the dynamics and overall accuracy of the sound.

The cabinet retains its distinctive truncated pyramid shape with a tilted panel, designed to perfectly align the mid-woofer and tweeter and minimize internal standing waves. Qboard® technology eliminates structural resonances, while the bass reflex port with horn ports reduces air turbulence. The speakers rest on isolation feet made of highly damping materials to separate the cabinet from the floor and further reduce unwanted resonances.

The 25mm wide-suspension tweeter with a fabric dome ensures extended response beyond 30kHz, excellent off-axis dispersion, and precise sound imaging at any listening position. The mid-woofer, with a constant-field magnet and open baskets, offers linearity and micro-acoustic detail, while the long-throw woofer extends bass down to 26Hz, maintaining control and power.

Every component, from the drivers to the crossover to the acoustically shielded, pure copper internal wiring, is individually selected and tested to ensure non-resonant behavior, reducing noise and distortion, and preserving silence between tones. The cable terminals are silver-plated WBT Nextgen®, with minimal copper mass to reduce stored energy and ensure pure contact with the cable.

The end result of Gen2 is a speaker that offers more dynamic, detailed, and natural sound than the first generation, while maintaining the elegance and aesthetic consistency that characterizes the entire Prestige series. Every note is clean and precise, with nothing added: just pure music.
