Harold Farberman should have become a true star long ago if percussionists were idolized as much as pianists, guitarists, saxophonists, and other virtuosos of their instruments. This recording features four classical works from the late Romantic, Romantic, and Baroque periods, pieces that, from the perspective of the original compositions, could not be more different from one another. Ten of the finest percussionists from the most renowned American orchestras and the Royal Danish Orchestra come together under Farberman’s baton, performing between 60 and 80 different percussion instruments for each piece. Produced by the legendary Andrew Kazdin, the recording creates a captivating soundscape that is rarely experienced even in concert halls.

Farberman studied percussion at the Juilliard School of Music and became the youngest member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the age of 20. At the same time, he pursued composition studies, wrote his first pieces, and later conducted orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. His body of work includes three operas for percussion instruments, various orchestral and chamber works, film scores, and compositions for dance companies. Today, he holds a professorship at Bard College in New York.
