The Bowers & Wilkins 704 S3 is a slim and elegant 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed to deliver high-level acoustic performance even in environments where space constraints make deeper cabinets impractical. Its acoustic architecture combines a Carbon Dome™ tweeter mounted in a Tweeter-on-Top configuration, a 130 mm Continuum™ midrange driver, and a 165 mm Aerofoil™ woofer, a carefully engineered combination intended to ensure precise, balanced, and engaging sound reproduction.

The Carbon Dome™ tweeter has been specifically developed for the 700 Series and is capable of extending breakup performance up to 47 kHz. This allows for exceptionally detailed and accurate high frequencies, improving soundstage focus and overall imaging precision.

For midrange reproduction, the 704 S3 uses Continuum™ technology, originally introduced in the flagship 800 Diamond Series. Thanks to a specially engineered composite weave and coating, this diaphragm effectively controls breakup behaviour, delivering voices and instruments with greater naturalness, openness, and tonal neutrality.

The midrange driver also benefits from a decoupled mounting system derived from higher-end models in the brand’s range. This design reduces cabinet-induced resonances, minimising unwanted colouration and improving overall transparency.

The low-frequency section features Aerofoil™ cone woofers, developed using advanced computer modelling techniques. Their variable thickness structure provides high rigidity while maintaining lightness and control, enabling deep, dynamic, and well-defined bass reproduction. The design is further enhanced by advanced technologies such as Nautilus™ loading and Biomimetic Suspension, which contribute to greater sound purity and overall fidelity.
