The WLM La Scala is a two-way floor-standing speaker that combines high sound quality, elevated sensitivity, and ease of placement, perfectly reflecting the design philosophy of the Austrian manufacturer. The system features a large 6.4 cm tweeter and a 21 cm woofer, both with rigid paper cones, carefully selected to ensure natural, fast, and coherent sound reproduction. The tweeter extends up to 25,000 Hz, while the woofer, with a compact magnet and rubber suspension, handles low frequencies down to 30 Hz thanks to a cabinet volume of over 46 liters. The combination of these drivers and the minimalist 1,200 Hz crossover delivers detailed, dynamic, and well-balanced sound across the mid/highs and lows.
The cabinet, constructed from 22 mm MDF with solid internal reinforcements, effectively reduces unwanted resonances, while the invisible bottom bass reflex simplifies placement even near walls. Adjustable spikes allow fine-tuning of the bass response according to the room’s acoustics, and the tweeter sensitivity control, adjustable from +3 to –3 dB, lets the user adapt the high frequencies to personal taste or the listening environment. The finish is European cherry with a black front panel, and the mono-wiring speaker terminals are robust and secure.
