AU-9900
The AU-9900 is one of the most refined and advanced integrated amplifiers in the renowned Sansui AU series. Built with the same care and precision as the AU-11000, from which it differs only in slightly lower output power, it delivers professional-level performance designed for the most demanding audiophiles. Its robust construction and precise technical design reflect Sansui’s commitment to combining power, musicality, and reliability in a single unit.
At the heart of the AU-9900 is a parallel push-pull power amplifier with a three-stage Darlington system and differential amplifier, capable of delivering 80 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms, with a frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and total harmonic distortion below 0.08%. The stabilized and finely regulated power supply uses an advanced toroidal transformer and oversized power capacitors to ensure stable output and extremely low noise levels, even at high power.
The RIAA equalization is precisely engineered, using two amplification sections with differential amplifiers: a CR circuit for high-frequency handling and an NF circuit for low-frequency compensation, ensuring linear response and minimal distortion in analog playback. The listening experience is further enhanced by the triple tone control circuit, one of Sansui’s most celebrated solutions, allowing independent adjustment of bass, midrange, and treble with twelve dedicated transistors and selectable turnover frequencies, offering unparalleled flexibility.
The unit’s protection is ensured by four independent circuits monitoring temperature, DC voltage, safe operating area, and overload, preventing any risk to the output transistors or connected speakers. The amplifier also allows complete bypass of the tone control section via a dedicated switch, preserving the original purity of the signal.
For versatile, professional use, the AU-9900 features selectable low- and high-frequency filters, input/output terminals for two stereo decks with monitoring and deck-to-deck dubbing, a precision volume control, adjustable level selector, and instant audio mute switch. Every detail is designed for intuitive and complete operation, making the AU-9900 not only an amplifier with outstanding performance but also a reference tool for those seeking authentic, powerful, and perfectly balanced sound.
TU-9900
The Sansui TU-9900 tuner is designed to perfectly complement the AU-9900 and AU-11000 amplifiers, sharing their construction philosophy and high performance standards. It provides stable and precise reception under all signal conditions, combining excellent sensitivity with audiophile-level sound quality. Every component and circuit is carefully selected and optimized to ensure both sonic purity and reliable tuning, balancing technical performance with musicality.
The front-end section features an FM5 series linear varicap, three low-noise dual-gate MOS FETs, and a dedicated transistor, ensuring high sensitivity and low interference even in areas with weak or overlapping signals. An antenna attenuator switch allows adjustment to different signal strengths, maintaining stable reception in both distant transmission areas and strong-field environments.
The IF section includes a band-switching system that emphasizes either sound quality or selectivity as needed. For wideband signals, it uses a two-stage, six-pole block filter with flat group delay characteristics, preserving natural sound depth. For narrowband reception, a four-pole ceramic filter provides excellent adjacent channel interference rejection, ensuring clear playback even under challenging radio conditions.
The ultra-wide-band ratio detection circuit and MPX section use differential demodulation with a phase-locked loop (PLL) for excellent phase characteristics, providing linearity across a wide bandwidth and extremely low distortion comparable to a high-end pre/main amplifier.
The TU-9900 also features an automatic noise canceller using a photo-coupler: when the input signal is weak, it automatically adjusts the stereo balance to reduce noise, improving practical listening performance. The AM section uses a double-tuned circuit and a Yaman-type two-element, two-coil ceramic filter, enhancing sensitivity, selectivity, and tonal accuracy.
Each stage is powered by a stabilized ±2 power supply to ensure stable operation and consistent sound reproduction. A built-in test oscillator allows precise recording level adjustment for connected decks, making the TU-9900 both a technically advanced and musically satisfying instrument.
