Integrated amplifier featuring a Current Feedback design implemented with discrete components and a symmetrical circuit configuration. The power section delivers 70 W per channel into 8 ohms and uses a topology designed to maintain low impedance at the feedback point and minimize phase shift, reducing the need for compensation through negative feedback. The signal path is therefore simplified, with particular attention paid to transient response and the ability to handle demanding loads.

The amplification section incorporates HDAM-SA3 modules, developed by Marantz as an alternative to conventional integrated operational amplifiers. The modules use discrete surface-mount components and short, symmetrical signal paths for the two channels, with the aim of minimizing noise and maintaining a fast electronic response.

The PM8006 also incorporates the Marantz Musical Phono EQ circuit, designed for vinyl playback through the MM phono input. The stage uses two-stage amplification, with HDAM and JFET devices in the input section. This configuration provides high input impedance without the AC coupling capacitors used in previous designs. The RIAA equalization network is divided between passive and active sections, with RIAA correction handled by an HDAM module and amplification provided by a Class A operational amplifier circuit.

The volume control uses a newly designed electronic circuit while retaining the operating interface typical of an analogue control. The solution affects channel separation, dynamic range and distortion, while also providing linear level adjustment.

The power supply section uses a double-shielded toroidal transformer, selected for its low electromagnetic radiation and low mechanical vibration. The design also employs selected components and a three-layer bottom plate, while the new isolation feet combine a high-density material with a damping fiber to limit the transmission of vibrations to the chassis.

Speaker connection is provided by proprietary Marantz SPKT-1+ terminals, made of solid brass with silver plating. The main terminals are positioned close to the amplification circuitry to keep the signal path as short as possible. The A and B speaker outputs can be selected, while the inputs and outputs are fitted with gold-plated connectors.

Connectivity also includes preamplifier outputs and a Power Amp Direct input, allowing the PM8006's power amplifier section to be used as part of a multichannel system with an external processor or preamplifier. The tone control section provides three independent adjustments for bass, midrange and treble, allowing separate adjustment of different portions of the audio spectrum.

The PM8006 is supplied with an ergonomic remote control for operating the amplifier's main functions and compatible Marantz source players.
