An integrated amplifier from the upper end of the Japanese manufacturer's range in the early 1980s, featuring a construction that prioritises high-quality materials and components. The front panel, side panels and control knobs are made of solid aluminium, while the cabinet features a rosewood-coloured wood finish, paired with the distinctive champagne finish of the front panel.

The power supply section features a 320 VA transformer, fully shielded to minimise interference with surrounding circuits, alongside filter capacitors with a total capacitance of 30,000 µF. The amplification circuits employ Luxman's proprietary DUOβ-Circuit/S system, designed to reduce distortion and improve signal-to-noise performance. Both channels are equipped with large heat sinks designed to promote heat dissipation during operation.

The rated output power reaches 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms in Class AB, with the first 15 watts delivered in pure Class A. This configuration combines Class A operation at lower power levels with greater power reserves when the music requires wider dynamic excursions.

The L-530 offers a comprehensive range of inputs and adjustments, with particular attention to its built-in phono stage, designed to support both MM and MC cartridges through an equaliser with adjustable gain. The Phono Straight function simplifies the signal path during vinyl playback by bypassing certain intermediate circuits. The tone controls also allow adjustment of the high and low frequencies, with several selectable turnover frequencies, while the circuit design minimises the influence of these adjustments on the audio signal.

Available features include a Warm-Up indicator, which signals the time required for the amplifier to reach its intended operating conditions. The indicator switches off once the unit has achieved thermal stabilisation. A mains phase sensor is also provided to detect the polarity of the electrical supply and help ensure the correct orientation of the mains connection.
