Paolo Fresu's new album for his Tuk Music label is born from a theatrical project produced by the Teatro Stabile di Bolzano and symbolically closes the circle of the trilogy that began with Tempo di Chet, dedicated to Chet Baker, and continued with Tango Macondo, a bridge between Sardinia and South America to tell the story of human, cultural, and artistic migrations. This time, the theme of the album is the artistic journey of the trumpet player from Berchidda, who has always cited Chet Baker and Miles Davis as essential artistic influences. In summary, much of Fresu's career is encapsulated in this new work, which features two ensembles that produced it: one acoustic (ideally referring to the jazz of Baker and early Davis) and the other electric, representing the “modernist” influences that connect the electric Miles Davis era to Fresu's projects, such as Heroes, the tribute to David Bowie.
