John Lee Hooker was undoubtedly one of the most prolific and vigorous pioneers of the international blues scene for much of his life. After recording his first 78 rpm record back in the 1940s and quickly becoming one of the most sought-after and admired bluesmen of his time, Hooker ascended to the status of an American legend. With hundreds of songs and an incalculable number of recordings and live performances to his credit, John Lee Hooker was also one of the most respected and in-demand singer-songwriters of his era.

His most famous albums, featuring top-tier artists such as Canned Heat, Johnny Winter, Van Morrison, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and George Thorogood, often included tracks by this blues icon, who today is regrettably less celebrated than he deserves.

ATCO Records released one of the most representative albums of his career: Don’t Turn Me From Your Door – John Lee Hooker Sings His Blues. The twelve gems on this rural blues masterpiece became some of Hooker’s most famous tracks, including the title track, which was later covered by numerous rock and blues stars, the poignant lament Drifting Blues, the rocking Real Real Gone, and, of course, the brilliant standard My Baby Don’t Love Me.

The legendary blues giant continues with a series of rock-infused blues songs such as Guitar Lovin’ Man, Wobbling Baby, and Stuttering Blues, one of Hooker’s all-time fan favorites. Artistic success was never foreign to the late John Lee Hooker, and Speakers Corner is proud to announce, on the 50th anniversary of its first release, this marvelous 180-gram audiophile vinyl reissue of his inimitable masterpiece Don’t Turn Me From Your Door.
