Long out of circulation for many years, Hugh Masekela’s masterpiece returns in this definitive edition, featuring all twelve tracks from the original 33 rpm release (the double 45 rpm edition contained only seven tracks).
Highly anticipated and sought after by the vast majority of audiophiles, this album has always been a reference point for hi-fi demonstrations. However, beyond its technical appeal, it is important to remember that Masekela is a superb South African trumpeter, and the seven-piece ensemble he assembled for this recording is truly outstanding. The songs span a career covering four decades and provide an excellent demonstration of the artist’s mastery.
Masterfully recorded live at Blues Alley in Washington D.C. in 1997, remastered by Kevin Gray at Acoustech Mastering, and pressed on 200-gram vinyl, this album will quite literally keep you glued to your listening chair.
