Jazz pianist and vocalist Anne Bisson is joined by drummer Paul Brochu, bassist Frédéric Alarie, and cellist Vincent Bélanger on Tales From the Treetops, an album that follows the successful Blue Mind. All the tracks in the program except one are sung in English, and Anne performs a beautiful duet with an international special guest, soprano Suzie LeBlanc.
Speaking about this fourteen-track album in a recent interview, Bisson stated:
“I believe that Tales From the Treetops is the ideal continuation of Blue Mind, as it features the same characters and their stories that had already appeared in the first album. The themes present in ‘Little Black Lake’ are very evident in these characters, who live in a landscape that is both natural and wild. In particular, in the new album it is possible to discover more about the magnificent Lady of the Black Lake, as we follow her entire human journey from her childhood (‘I Live in a Treehouse’) to her final days (‘Winter’s Coming’). These pieces are filled with emotion, passion, love, and pain.”
Live recording made in December 2013 at Les Studios Opus. Remastered at Le Lab Mastering by Marc-Olivier Bouchard.
