LP 45 rpm 180 grams pressed at Bill Smith Custom Records in Los Angeles
This beautiful 190 gram 45 rpm extended play disc features three of the best tracks from the first 96 kHz recording of "Sera una Noche". The lacquer was made by Len Horowitz on his legendary 1950 Scully lathe with Westrex cutting head. Simply entitled "Sera una Noche 45rpm", the disc contains (on side A) two versions of Gardel's "Malena", the first with Pedro Aznar on vocals (7' 38"), and the second, a haunting original instrumental track of the same (5' 06"). Side B features the deeply hypnotic "Nublado" (11' 22"), probably the "Killer Track" of the entire session, recorded in the abandoned church of Gandara Monasterio, in the Argentine countryside, about two hours from the capital Buenos Aires.
Back in 2001 (year of publication) it received the acclaim of music critics from all over the world, especially in Italy from a splendid review by the pianist Enzo Siciliano on the pages of 'Venerdi di Repubblica' and those by Luca Damiani on 'Musica di Repubblica' . It seems needless to say more, and the many audiophiles who have purchased the CD version in the past, I think would agree with this writer that this music is simply superb.
