Subwoofer designed for low-frequency reproduction, with a configuration intended to adapt to the characteristics of the room and system in which it is installed. The choice of a subwoofer must take several factors into account, including the size and shape of the room, listening level and the electronics being used. In general, a larger cabinet allows lower frequencies to be reproduced with less distortion than a more compact enclosure.

Velodyne has been developing subwoofers since 1983, with particular attention to reducing distortion and controlling performance. The CHT-Q series introduces a microphone-based room equalization system to the range, allowing the subwoofer to be calibrated according to the characteristics of the room. The supplied microphone detects the room conditions and allows calibration to be carried out easily.

Digital signal processing also provides several DSP modes, allowing the subwoofer's behaviour to be adjusted according to the type of content being reproduced, from music to movies. The combination of microphone-based equalization and DSP modes makes the CHT-12Q a configurable solution for different rooms and listening situations.
