Passive stereo subwoofer from Chario's historic Hiper series, designed to be paired with the satellite speakers in the range, such as the Hiper 1000. The model is designed to extend low-frequency reproduction within the system while maintaining the stereo configuration of the design, rather than assigning the low frequencies to a single mono source.

The system uses two 250 mm paper-cone drivers, one dedicated to the left channel and one to the right. Both drivers are shielded and feature a dual voice coil and long-throw construction. The two drivers are housed in separate compartments inside the cabinet and operate in a push-pull configuration, a solution designed to provide the required acoustic pressure in the low-frequency range while keeping the information from the two channels separate.

As a passive model, the Hiper Sub does not incorporate an amplifier and must be driven by external amplification. It is designed to be inserted between the amplifier and the main speakers: the rear panel provides inputs for speaker-level signals and outputs dedicated to the satellite speakers, allowing the subwoofer to be integrated directly into the system. The design also includes a filtering section associated with the use of the Hiper Bass and Hiper 1000 systems, with a specified crossover frequency of 150 Hz for this configuration.

The subwoofer's specified frequency response extends from 35 to 120 Hz, allowing the low-frequency range reproduced by the main speakers to be extended and completing the overall configuration of the Hiper systems. The stereo configuration and separation of the two drivers preserve channel information in low-frequency reproduction as well.

The cabinet has substantial dimensions compared with the satellite speakers for which it is intended and houses the two separate acoustic chambers required for the operation of the drivers. The Hiper Sub is therefore specifically designed by Chario for integration with Hiper systems, combining passive operation, stereo configuration and a push-pull loading arrangement.
