DALI OBERON 9

The Oberon 9 represents the new flagship of DALI’s Oberon series, a three-way floorstanding speaker designed to deliver extraordinary performance in any setting. The low frequencies are handled by two 230 mm woofers, each with its own dedicated chamber and reflex port, while the midrange is entrusted to a substantial 180 mm driver with a separate volume. A new-generation 29 mm soft dome tweeter completes the high-frequency section, delivering airy, detailed highs. All drivers are larger in diameter than those typically found in speakers of the same price range, allowing for higher power handling and more dynamic performance. Thanks to SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) technology, nonlinear magnetic distortion is significantly reduced, benefiting the low-frequency response and providing greater overall linearity across the frequency spectrum.

The Oberon 9 cabinet combines solidity and elegance, featuring rounded edges, a rustic fabric front grille, and a shaped aluminum base that adds visual lightness and stability. The internal structure is reinforced to minimize cabinet resonances, while the rear reflex ports optimize room integration and bass performance. The geometry and materials of the drivers, along with the crossover design, ensure wide sound dispersion, delivering a consistent and integrated sound even off-axis, without the need to toe-in the speakers, reducing harmonic distortion and diffraction effects.

The 230 mm woofers and 180 mm midrange are optimized with a new wood fibre cone structure that blends fine-grain paper pulp with wood fibres, creating lightweight yet rigid diaphragms capable of reproducing the finest signal details. The low-friction suspension and balanced voice coil provide control, dynamic range, and reduced distortion. The oversized 29 mm soft dome tweeter generates high sound pressure with minimal coil movement, ensuring extended frequency response, wide dispersion, and low coloration.

The Oberon 9 combines power, refinement, and detail, delivering any type of music or cinematic soundtrack naturally. The combination of the two 230 mm woofers and the 180 mm midrange provides a total radiating area larger than a single larger woofer, allowing reduced coil excursion and higher sound pressure levels for effortless dynamic reproduction. The integration of SMC technology in the magnet system, with an SMC disc strategically placed in the voice coil working area, reduces third-order distortion and improves the constant magnetic field, resulting in a relaxed midrange and surprising detail even at low frequencies.
