One of the most distinctive aspects of the design is the renowned "Tweeter on Top" technology developed by Bowers & Wilkins. By mounting the tweeter in a separate enclosure on top of the cabinet, this configuration optimizes time alignment between the drivers and reduces cabinet-related interference, improving image focus and delivering an exceptionally accurate and realistic three-dimensional soundstage.

The drive units utilize the famous Kevlar® cone material, which Bowers & Wilkins helped establish as a benchmark in loudspeaker design thanks to its outstanding mechanical properties. The use of Kevlar® minimizes unwanted standing waves and promotes a more linear and controlled response, resulting in greater transparency, naturalness, and midrange accuracy.
