The Rogers LS3/5a in the Sixtieth Anniversary commemorative edition represents the perfect evolution of a timeless legend. Manufactured under BBC license and featuring an impedance of 11 ohms, they embody the version with the most refined sound performance, capable of delivering an acoustic experience that enchants with transparency, image definition, and spatiality. It is in the detail of the voices that these speakers reveal their heart: the timbral magic is unmistakable, unique, and able to move even the most demanding listeners.

Rogers accepted the challenge of bringing back to life one of the most beloved speakers in hi-fi history, giving new life to a classic now considered out of production. The fine-tuning process lasted years, conducted in complete secrecy, with the goal not only to recreate the original LS3/5a frequency response curve but also its unmistakable voice. Every component was chosen to restore the sonic magic that made this BBC mini monitor famous. The 19mm soft dome tweeter is complemented by the classic Tygan grille, whose authentic material proved essential in ensuring the timbral coherence of the design. The selected woofer, finally, impressively approaches the legendary original B110.

The result is astonishing: the soundstage is wide, deep, and precise, with an almost point-source-like rendering. The bass maintains the characteristic “bump” of the original, but with slightly improved control and depth. Even the crossover, although adapted for the new drivers, faithfully respects the original slopes and dynamic behavior. The tweeter’s slightly higher sensitivity was precisely compensated to achieve a perfect balance.

Listening to them, one has the sensation of facing the classic LS3/5a, perhaps even a more mature and aware version. The voices are lively, tangible, rich in detail and warmth, never falling into a sterile sound. Whether using a solid-state or valve amplifier, with digital or analog sources, the listening experience remains consistent and deeply engaging. This is not simply a replica: these Rogers not only recreate the legend but enhance it, preserving the original charm intact and projecting it naturally and respectfully into the present.
