The ProAc Response D2 is a bookshelf speaker that represents the evolution of a model that introduced the Response series over thirty years ago. Equipped with a ribbon tweeter, it continues ProAc’s tradition of producing high-end monitor speakers, capable of delivering transparent sound and precise spatial imaging.

The cabinet, made of 15 mm thick marine plywood and coated with a bituminous layer to dampen resonances, houses a 6½" (165 mm) woofer with a woven glass fiber cone, carefully finished motor, and a copper phase plug, designed to extend bass response down to 30 Hz thanks to the front-facing reflex port. The ribbon tweeter, usually reserved for high-end floorstanding models, provides brilliant and detailed high frequencies, ensuring an extremely transparent monitor-like listening experience.

With a sensitivity of 88 dB/W/m and a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms, the D2R is relatively easy to drive compared to similar speakers, while the bi-wiring option allows further optimization of the sound response. For best performance, it is recommended to place the speakers away from the rear wall and angle them toward the listening position, aligning the tweeter with ear level.
