The Bowers & Wilkins 805 Diamond is a two-way stand-mount loudspeaker with a bass-reflex enclosure, belonging to the 800 Diamond Series. The design combines a 165 mm Kevlar® cone mid/bass driver with a 25 mm Nautilus™ diamond-dome tweeter, a solution introduced on this model to extend diamond tweeter technology to a compact format. The crossover operates at 4 kHz and the configuration is suitable for bi-wiring.

The tweeter is housed separately on top of the cabinet and mechanically isolated from the main enclosure, with the aim of limiting the transmission of vibrations and cabinet-induced diffraction. The Nautilus™ loading uses the characteristic tapered rear tube, while the magnetic assembly features four permanent magnets and a new suspension system. The diamond dome contributes to extended high-frequency reproduction, with a response specified up to 28 kHz at -3 dB.

The mid/bass driver uses a 165 mm Kevlar® fibre cone, selected for its rigidity and control of resonances. Its integration with the tweeter and crossover allows the two drivers to operate within their respective frequency ranges without excessive excursion, maintaining continuity in the reproduction of vocals and instruments.

The cabinet incorporates the Matrix™ internal structure, consisting of a grid of internal braces that increases cabinet rigidity and helps reduce structural resonances. The bass-reflex port uses the Flowport™ system, featuring a dimpled internal surface that reduces air turbulence during bass-reflex operation. The tweeter is also mounted on an isolated structure incorporating a synthetic material element, further separating it from vibrations generated by the main cabinet.

The 805 Diamond has a sensitivity of 88 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, with a specified minimum of 4.7 ohms. Recommended amplifier power is between 50 and 120 W. The specified frequency response is 49 Hz-28 kHz at -3 dB, while the loudspeaker weighs approximately 11.8 kg.

In terms of appearance, the model retains several characteristic elements of the 800 Series, including the separate tweeter, curved cabinet and Kevlar® cone, while introducing gloss finishes and polished aluminium rings around the drivers and bass-reflex port. The front grille is magnetically attached, while the loudspeaker is designed for use with dedicated stands, facilitating correct positioning and acoustic integration within the listening environment.
