The Micro Seiki RX-1500 stands out as one of the most sophisticated and ingenious turntables ever made, the result of masterful craftsmanship by the Japanese manufacturer. Its most distinctive feature is the ability to separate the motor from the platter, a design choice that minimizes vibrations and ensures impeccable mechanical isolation.

The build quality is extraordinary, with extremely tight tolerances, a platter suspended on springs that dampens unwanted resonance, and a speed-adjustable motor capable of delivering stable and precise rotation.

The RX-1500 consists of two distinct sections: the platter, equipped with a central spindle and designed to accommodate one or more tonearms, up to four at a time, and the motor unit, positioned laterally on the left, which integrates the power supply, on/off switch, speed control, and pulley for belt transmission.

Over time, this model has proven to be extremely versatile and open to customization: it can be paired with tonearms from different manufacturers, dedicated supports, and even components reproduced with modern 3D printing technology, helping to preserve its original spirit.

When the motor is distanced from the platter using a longer belt, induced noise is further reduced, allowing for the installation of a second tonearm and confirming the modular yet purist nature of this masterpiece.

The Micro Seiki RX-1500 remains an absolute reference for audiophiles, combining mechanical precision, engineering elegance, and uncompromising musicality.

Dynavector DV-505 Tonearm

The Dynavector DV-505 tonearm represents a radically innovative approach compared to traditional designs, the product of advanced engineering by Onlife Research and a technical vision aimed at maximum sound fidelity. The arm features a bi-axial structure acting like two separate arms integrated into a single architecture. The main, high-mass body moves only on the horizontal plane, ensuring exceptional stability and minimizing unwanted oscillations. A second, lighter element, separately hinged, operates exclusively on the vertical plane, precisely following warped records and ensuring flawless tracking even with slight vinyl warps.

This dual arrangement resolves the classic design conflict between stability and responsiveness: the main mass provides smooth, vibration-free lateral movement, while the lighter arm reacts quickly to vertical irregularities. Tracking force is applied via a precision-calibrated spiral spring, maintaining constant pressure on the cartridge under all playback conditions, regardless of disc warping.

One of the most sophisticated features of the DV-505 is its electromagnetic damping system. A thin curved rod attached to the back of the arm moves within a magnetic field generated by two permanent magnets. Any unintended movement induces an eddy current that interacts with the field, quickly returning the system to equilibrium and eliminating resonance. An internal counterweight vibrates in anti-phase to the arm’s natural resonance, neutralizing its effects and ensuring a highly linear response, even at subsonic frequencies. The result is extraordinary sonic transparency, free of muddiness, reproducing every micro-detail in the groove with dynamic accuracy and naturalness.

The DV-505 is highly versatile in installation thanks to its heavy base, which allows it to rest freely on any turntable without permanent fixing, while still offering pre-drilled mounting holes. A template is included for precise positioning and overhang adjustment. Awarded at the CES Design and Engineering Show in 1977, the Onlife Research DV-505 remains a masterpiece of audio engineering, elevating analog playback to the highest level.
