The Accustic Arts Player II presents itself as a reference digital system that combines in a single unit a high-end CD player and an advanced D/A converter. As the evolution of a successful previous model, it introduces the new CD Pro-8 transport mechanism, replacing the historic Philips CDPro2 unit, and is integrated into an extremely solid mechanical structure optimised for resonance control. The drive mechanism is housed within a massive aluminium block that ensures stability and precision, while the disc is clamped by a magnetic puck system made of chromed brass, designed to guarantee perfectly controlled rotation.
Alongside its CD playback function, the device also operates as a high-level digital converter, thanks to a D/A section based on a sophisticated 32-bit / 384 kHz upsampling algorithm. Versatility is one of its key strengths, offering a full range of digital inputs including coaxial, optical, AES/EBU via XLR, and a state-of-the-art asynchronous USB 2.0 interface capable of handling signals up to DSD256, enabling high-resolution playback from computers, laptops, and other digital sources.
The internal architecture is designed with a clear separation between the analogue and digital sections, a solution that contributes to an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio and a cleaner, more natural sound reproduction. The power supply is particularly refined and divided into multiple independent stages, with two high-quality toroidal transformers providing separate power for the laser mechanism, digital processing, display control, and conversion stage, ensuring generous and stable power reserves.
From a construction standpoint, the Player II features a heavy metal chassis engineered to minimise vibration, with a finely milled aluminium front panel that highlights the product’s aesthetic and tactile quality. The unit is completed by a dedicated remote control and a design philosophy entirely focused on engineering precision, with production carried out entirely by hand in Germany. The result is a device positioned at the top of the digital range, designed to deliver maximum fidelity, flexibility, and control in high-resolution music playback.
