The Sumiko Black Pearl phono cartridge is a classic moving magnet pickup designed to deliver a refined and engaging listening experience. Inspired by the smooth character of its sibling, the Oyster, the Black Pearl features an improved housing that allows for a wider frequency response, providing greater nuance, more precise stereo imaging, and a more coherent soundstage. The low frequencies are well-articulated, defined, and rounded, while the midrange is sweet and natural; the upper mids and highs complete the sonic picture with clarity without sounding harsh, offering hours of enjoyable listening.

With an output of 4.0 mV, a spherical stylus, and a total weight of only 6 grams, the Black Pearl pairs perfectly with any MM phono stage and is compatible with a wide range of tonearms. Like all models in Sumiko’s Oyster series, it is hand-crafted in Yokohama, Japan, where each component is carefully selected to ensure precision, quality, and analog fidelity.

The package includes a white plastic case placed inside a box containing instructions, a cleaning brush, screws, and a small screwdriver, providing everything needed for a simple and secure installation.
