The Madrigal Flat Copper Core is a speaker cable developed by Madrigal Mark Levinson in the late 1980s, based on a distinctive design approach focused on audio signal transmission. Unlike conventional stranded copper cables, it uses ultra-high-purity solid-core copper conductors with a flat profile and a width of approximately 50 mm per element. This geometry is intended to combine the characteristics associated with solid-core construction with a large conductive surface area, taking into account the distribution of electrical current along the conductor.

In its original configuration, the positive and negative conductors are stacked, forming an unusually wide overall structure. To make installation and everyday handling easier, the two elements are separated while retaining the flat construction that distinguishes this cable from conventional speaker cables. The design therefore prioritizes electrical function and conductor geometry over compactness and ease of placement, and requires particular care when connecting and positioning the cable within a system.
