The Reimyo CAT-777 is a valve stereo preamplifier designed with an emphasis on channel separation, a straightforward signal path and careful power supply implementation. Its dual-mono configuration applies both to the amplification circuits and the power supply, with the aim of keeping the two channels independent and reducing mutual interference.

The front panel features a straightforward layout, with a large volume control positioned on the right, two smaller controls for balance adjustment and a row of LEDs indicating the selected input among the four available. The interface is therefore functional and free of unnecessary controls.

The rear panel features high-quality RCA connectors, three preamplifier outputs, four inputs, a dedicated ground terminal and an IEC power socket. The connectors are arranged symmetrically around the central axis and are spaced well apart, consistent with the dual-mono architecture of the circuit.

The chassis is supported by wide cones designed according to the Harmonix approach to help control mechanical vibrations. The internal construction further emphasises channel separation: the power supply section occupies the central part of the chassis, while the amplification circuits are positioned on either side and separated by thick shielding plates.

The signal from the RCA inputs is routed to the input board through shielded wiring. Input selection is handled by sealed relays housed within small metal shields, helping to isolate the different signal paths and reduce the influence of external interference.

From the input selection section, the signal passes through Alps potentiometers dedicated to balance adjustment and subsequently through the main volume potentiometer. The signal path incorporates Wonder InfiniCap Signature polypropylene capacitors, used both in the input section and in the coupling stages.

The amplification stage uses horizontally mounted valves. Each channel employs two Matsushita 12AU7 dual triodes and a Matsushita 12BH7A triode in the input buffer section. The circuit does not use global negative feedback, maintaining a direct signal path with a limited number of active components.

The power supply occupies a significant portion of the chassis and is implemented independently for each channel. Each section has its own transformer and choke, while the valve heater supply is rectified and regulated to maintain stable operating conditions.

The anode supply uses Philips ECG JAN 6X4WA rectifier valves, NOS components originally produced for military applications. Power supply filtering is handled by high-capacity capacitors for the anode voltage, together with additional capacitors dedicated to the heater circuits.

The mains input incorporates a 2Pi mains filter and an Enacom filter, while additional filters of the same type are positioned at the output of the power supply. The power supply section is built on a printed circuit board, while the signal section, apart from the input stage, uses point-to-point wiring.

The Reimyo CAT-777 therefore combines a dual-mono configuration with independent power supplies, shielded circuits, a signal path without global negative feedback, selected components and a valve section based on 12AU7 and 12BH7A tubes, together with four inputs, three preamplifier outputs and a straightforward control layout.
