PrimaLuna designs and handcrafts powerful toroidal transformers, known for their low magnetic and acoustic noise emissions, but with the EVO 300 they go even further thanks to the AC Offset Killer technology, an innovative system that reduces transformer noise to levels no other manufacturer dares to reach, even with poor quality electrical grids. The result is a sound reproduction with a great sense of space, rich and natural texture, and the lingering resonance of a violin or guitar string that seems to never end.

The transformers are enclosed in a metal casing and immersed in a non-microphonic resin that protects the windings from moisture and deterioration, ensuring longevity and stability over time. This contributes to the considerable weight of the preamplifier, which reaches 31 kg, a sign of artisanal care and build quality. For rectification, the EVO 300 employs two 5AR4 tubes in a dual-mono configuration, a choice that further enhances the three-dimensionality of the stereo image and the naturalness of the sound reproduction, going far beyond the common solid-state rectification used in many other products.

The volume control relies on a motorized Alps Blue Velvet potentiometer, considered the absolute best for precision, quietness, and maintaining a stable stereo image even when adjusting the volume. This analog choice avoids the use of digital chips for volume control, which, while inexpensive and quiet, tend to introduce an annoying electronic “sheen” to the sound. The input selection is also designed to eliminate any possible interference: instead of traditional switches, the EVO 300 uses high-quality sealed relays mounted at the rear where sources are connected, completely isolating unselected signals and preventing noise or leakage.

The internal wiring is entirely hand-made using point-to-point technology, with thick cables and superior quality resistors and capacitors, and in some models even Swiss-made silver-plated OFC copper wire, to guarantee maximum signal purity and fidelity.

The dual-mono structure, which involves two separate circuits with two transformers and double regulation, ensures an extraordinary stereo image and a sense of space that seems endless, a characteristic typical of high-end preamplifiers but here offered with artisanal attention and impeccable build quality. The SmartGain function limits the gain to about 10 dB, keeping background noise extremely low and protecting the tubes from excessive amplification that could cause distortion or unwanted noise.

Finally, an exclusive PrimaLuna feature is the PerfectMatch circuit, which ensures a perfectly balanced 100K ohm output impedance to your source components, a crucial detail to guarantee the best sound performance especially with tube components like phono stages and DACs, enhancing their response and overall musicality.
