The PRE32 is a preamplifier designed to be compatible with the Primare A34.2 amplifier and the entire range of Primare amplifiers. It stands out for its refined design and solid structure, housed in a sturdy steel chassis, and features an OLED display that provides intuitive control of parameters, developed based on the acclaimed EISA award-winning I32 integrated amplifier. The PRE32 offers a variety of balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs, including two pairs of low-noise XLR inputs and four pairs of RCA inputs. It also includes a recording output, RS232 inputs, trigger, IR, and RF inputs. The option of an upgrade card allows the addition of MEDIA/streaming connections such as USB, iPod, and LAN, making it a versatile preamplifier ready for technological evolution.

Every signal path in the PRE32 is fully balanced and designed to minimize distortion and interference. Signals from unbalanced inputs are converted into balanced signals by a conversion stage using the renowned Burr Brown OPA2134 op-amps, and are then sent to the volume and balance controls, which use high-precision NJW1195 attenuators in a balanced configuration. Source selection is achieved through high-performance signal relays. The balanced system ensures that the signal reaches the receiver without unwanted noise, as the noisy signal is rejected at the receiving end, leaving only the original musical signal.

The gain module, separate for each channel and featuring its own PCB, is built with the highest quality components, including MOSFET transistors, MELF resistors, and polypropylene capacitors. The gain circuit is powered by active current sources, replacing passive resistor networks and further improving sound quality. The PRE32 is DC coupled from input to output, with no capacitors in the signal path. Instead, the preamplifier uses active servos to compensate for any DC components, ensuring that the outputs are always free from distortions.

The PRE32 design also includes an ultra-low power standby mode, consuming only 0.2W. In operational mode, the preamplifier uses a discrete linear power supply that excludes high-frequency components from the standby power supply, ensuring optimal performance. The analog and digital power supplies are completely separated, and the large capacitor bank (25,000 µF) is designed to provide the best performance possible with minimal ESR.

In terms of upgrades, the PRE32 is designed to be easily upgraded with a high-quality aptX Bluetooth module, enabling wireless Bluetooth audio streaming in high quality, supporting formats like aptX, AAC, and MP3. The incoming signal is processed and up-sampled to 192 kHz via the built-in sample rate converter, ensuring superior audio quality. The module is easy to install and can be activated via a software update, adding Bluetooth input to the product's control menu.

Finally, the PRE32's user interface has been designed to be simple and elegant, with a graphical display that allows for easy configuration. The display brightness can be adjusted in four levels, and the system automatically dims after a few seconds of inactivity, restoring the programmed brightness with a touch of a button. The configuration menu allows for customization of various parameters, including startup volume, input renaming, and fine adjustment of volume and balance.
