The E-07 phono amplifier is designed to bring out every emotional nuance captured by the cartridge during vinyl playback, transferring it with precision to the next amplification stage. To celebrate its centenary, LUXMAN has developed this fully solid-state model as a new benchmark in performance and sound quality, capable of enhancing the enjoyment of deep analog listening. Its slim chassis, finished with a blasted white front panel, echoes the aesthetics of the company’s latest separate and integrated amplifiers, while its technical features expand configuration possibilities in complex analog environments. The newly designed MC step-up transformer, based on a super permalloy core with extremely high responsiveness to small signals, is divided into two independent units per channel and per Low/High gain, allowing users to select the optimal configuration according to the cartridge impedance. The balanced input also enables differential signals from MC cartridges to be processed without energy loss, improving stereo separation and imaging. The amplifier includes one balanced XLR input and two unbalanced RCA inputs, offering versatile analog playback setups.
The E-07 handles the tiny signals from vinyl through an exceptionally low-noise circuit, reflecting LUXMAN’s extensive experience in amplifier design. It uses high-quality NF transistors, an RIAA curve compatible with MM and MC cartridges, and a low-noise primary stage constructed with four parallel FETs. Every internal component is selected for its sonic performance, favoring proprietary, custom-developed materials that undergo rigorous listening tests to achieve a rich, dynamic, and coherent sound true to LUXMAN’s tradition. The chassis, critical to tonal character, employs a “loopless” structure that isolates the power supply from the audio stages, reducing ground impedance, while internal OFC copper wiring with spiral shielding ensures natural and transparent signal transmission. The inverted, gold-plated IEC inlet provides a secure connection even with heavy power cables.
Cartridge load adjustment is extremely precise: a six-position rotary selector for MC cartridge impedance is located on the front panel, while rear switches allow adjustment of MM cartridge impedance and load capacitance. This flexibility ensures optimal performance across a wide range of cartridges. Power is supplied by three large-capacity transformers, separated for left/right audio channels and peripheral circuits, preventing interference between sections and maintaining stable current delivery, further supported by five power-amplifier-grade capacitors.
Each input features its own solid brass, gold-plated ground terminal connected directly to the circuit’s reference point, while an additional traditional ground terminal is connected to the main chassis. This arrangement minimizes hum and interference. The amplifier also includes user-friendly features: the Articulator mode demagnetizes the cartridge and MC transformer using the record signal itself; a low-cut filter suppresses woofer fluctuations caused by warped records; Mono mode and phase inversion switches allow full control of the output signal.
To further stabilize the transmission of weak signals, LUXMAN developed the Petal Grounding Structure, which consolidates all reference points into a central node connected to each section via thick steel plates, maintaining identical impedance and distance for every path. The circuit boards feature LUXMAN’s signature rounded traces for smooth current flow. The amplifier rests on an ultra-rigid chassis made of two stacked thick copper plates, increasing base mass, lowering the center of gravity, and improving vibration control, complemented by density-gradient cast iron isolation feet. Refined aesthetics and meticulous construction combine with high-level electrical design, resulting in a phono amplifier for those seeking the deepest essence of analog playback.
