The Leben RS-30EQ phono preamplifier is an innovatively developed product that combines the tradition of tube-based designs with a rare CR equalization circuit, rather than the more common negative feedback circuitry. The result is a preamplifier that delivers superior sound quality while maintaining a robust and detailed design.
Equipped with a pair of dual-triode tubes (12AT7) for phono signal amplification, the RS-30EQ provides a total gain of 23.5 dB, suitable for moving magnet (MM) cartridges, while moving coil (MC) cartridges require the use of an external transformer. The heater voltage is supplied via a silicon full-wave rectifier, and the main power is provided through a 6X5GT rectifier.
The build quality of the RS-30EQ is exceptional, comparable to the Leben CS300 integrated amplifier, with some components even more robust. The power supply components are mounted on a small composite fiber board rather than a standard PCB, while the remaining components are supported by terminal strips. Like the CS300, it features point-to-point wiring, ensuring a clean and direct connection.
The RS-30EQ also includes additional internal shielding to minimize noise and interference, and the "orient-core" power transformer selected by Leben further enhances sound quality.
