Phono preamplifier designed for analog playback and in production since 1985, having undergone numerous circuit updates and refinements over the years. The design adopts an essential configuration, with a single input, volume control, low output impedance and an external power supply, maintaining a short signal path and a circuit layout focused on simplicity.

The phono stage operates in pure Class A and uses a single stabilized, temperature-compensated voltage source as a reference for the various operating points of the circuit. This approach helps maintain consistent operating conditions and provides a level of detail and resolution suitable for both MM and MC cartridges.

The low output impedance also allows the Fein to be connected directly to a power amplifier, without the need for an additional preamplification stage. The integrated volume control allows the signal level to be adjusted directly, making the Fein the central component of a simple analog system.

The power supply uses ultrafast diodes and non-inductive resistors, a solution designed to prevent the transformer from entering magnetic saturation during operation. Its low power consumption allows the Fein to remain permanently powered on, a condition recommended by the manufacturer to keep the circuit at optimal operating conditions and provide more consistent sonic performance.
