The Norma Model 8.7 HV is a stereo amplifier derived directly from the 8.7 MR monoblock power amplifier, from which it takes the design of the amplification section and the regulated power supply for the driver stages. Compared with the monoblock version, the design omits the regulated power supply for the output stages in order to integrate the two channels into a single stereo configuration.

The electronic design features an intrinsic bandwidth exceeding 3 MHz, high slew rate, low noise and high linearity. These characteristics are not pursued simply as technical objectives, but form part of a design aimed at reproducing the musical event as faithfully as possible. The combination of these solutions allows the amplifier to respond rapidly even to the most subtle signal variations, maintaining transparency, naturalness and continuity throughout reproduction.

Despite its compact dimensions, the Model 8.7 HV provides an articulated dynamic response at both low and high signal levels, with driving capability suitable even for particularly demanding loudspeakers. The design demonstrates how a compact stereo configuration can incorporate an amplification section capable of effectively handling the requirements of different reproduction systems.

The protection system is designed not to interfere with the audio signal during normal operation. In the event of anomalies or malfunctions, including those caused by components or equipment upstream of the amplifier, the circuit immediately intervenes by switching the unit off.
