ONKYO ICON M-80

The Onkyo M-80 is a power amplifier designed to deliver powerful, dynamic, and engaging sound, capable of driving even large speakers with exceptional precision. At its core is a three-stage Inverted Darlington circuit, which ensures very low output impedance and high current delivery, allowing speakers to be driven with both force and exceptional detail and resolution. Maintaining low negative feedback (NFB) reduces the influence of noise from the speakers, providing powerful yet precise playback rich in musical information. The output stage transistors, arranged in a parallel configuration, further enhance instantaneous current supply, improving transient response and the sense of power. The driver stage integrates DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry), which reduces noise in the ultrasonic range and reproduces the natural character of analog sound.

The M-80 is built with the highest-quality components, including a custom high-current power supply, 10,000 µF capacitors made exclusively for Onkyo, hi-fi grade input and output terminals, copper bus bars, and a robust, vibration-resistant front panel. The extruded aluminum heat sink suppresses vibrations, while the chassis, consisting of two aluminum side panels and a steel top panel, increases rigidity and seismic resistance, further improving overall sound quality.

With a nominal output of 200 W into 4 Ω and 150 W into 8 Ω (1 kHz, THD 0.7%, two channels driven), the Onkyo M-80 can power demanding speakers with high dynamics and full-range response, faithfully reproducing every musical nuance. Paired with the P-80 preamplifier, it achieves exceptional performance even with large, high-sensitivity speakers such as the Klipsch Forte, enhancing dynamics, extension, and depth. The Onkyo M-80 combines power, precision, and musicality in a single amplifier, providing an immersive listening experience that remains faithful to the original music.
