ONKYO ICON A-50

The Onkyo A-50 is a network integrated amplifier designed to deliver powerful, accurate, and distortion-free sound, capable of enhancing every type of loudspeaker, from large floorstanding models to compact bookshelf designs. At the core of its engineering lies a three-stage Inverted Darlington circuit, which handles high-current signals with minimal distortion, ensuring clear reproduction that remains faithful to the artist’s original intent. The patented DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry) technology reduces noise generated in the ultrasonic frequencies of digital sources, giving the sound a natural yet smooth and comfortable character; this circuitry is applied within the DAC’s analog filter to optimize overall sonic performance.

The A-50’s structural design is meticulously crafted to minimize vibrations and interference. The 5 mm-thick extruded aluminum front panel increases rigidity, while the oval-shaped chassis with pressed lines helps distribute and disperse vibrations for a more stable and refined sound. The extruded aluminum heat sink and the custom-made 10,000 μF capacitors, along with hi-fi-grade terminals and a copper bus bar, create a system built to preserve signal purity and maintain high definition even in the most complex passages. The fanless design eliminates mechanical noise entirely, and the 32-bit / 768 kHz stereo DAC ensures top-tier digital conversion.

The A-50 offers extensive connectivity options to suit any audio system. Users can connect turntables via the MM/MC phono input, CD players, and other analog or digital sources through RCA, HDMI ARC, coaxial, optical, and USB-A inputs, alongside a dedicated headphone output. Compatibility with streaming platforms such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Qplay, TuneIn, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Roon Ready provides seamless access to any music content, whether played directly or cast from a device. The amplifier can also be controlled via the Onkyo Controller app, allowing easy management of sources and settings directly from the listening position.

With a nominal output power of 180 W at 4 Ω and 140 W at 8 Ω (1 kHz, THD 0.7%, two channels driven), the Onkyo A-50 can confidently drive demanding speakers with excellent dynamics and wide bandwidth, reproducing every musical nuance. The integrated Dirac Live Room Correction Suite Stereo helps correct acoustic imperfections within the listening room, optimizing frequency response and tailoring playback to the environment.
