This integrated stereo amplifier delivers 45 W per channel into 8 Ω and features both analogue and digital connections for use with a variety of audio sources. The amplification section employs Current Feedback technology, designed to provide wide bandwidth and a fast response to changes in the musical signal. Marantz's proprietary HDAM-SA3 circuits help reduce noise and distortion, preserving dynamics and detail during playback.

The power supply is based on a toroidal transformer, selected for its efficiency and low electromagnetic leakage, combined with high-speed Schottky diodes and high-capacity filter capacitors. This configuration provides sufficient current reserves to drive loudspeakers and helps maintain stable performance during demanding musical passages with significant dynamic variations. Advanced thermal compensation also helps maintain consistent amplifier performance as the temperature of the power transistors changes.

The digital section features an AK4490 digital-to-analogue converter capable of handling PCM signals up to 192 kHz/24-bit. One coaxial input and two optical inputs are available for connecting CD players, televisions and other compatible digital sources. The digital circuitry is housed within a dedicated metal shield to limit potential interference with the analogue section. A digital filter with two selectable modes, Filter 1 and Filter 2, also allows users to choose between different signal-filtering characteristics and stereo imaging.

The analogue inputs allow several line-level sources to be connected, while the integrated MM phono stage enables direct connection of a compatible turntable. The phono circuit uses a FET-based input stage, simplifying the signal path and helping to reduce noise and distortion. A dedicated subwoofer output is also provided, featuring a fixed 150 Hz low-pass crossover to accommodate an external subwoofer and extend the system's low-frequency response.

The amplifier features A/B speaker terminals, allowing two pairs of loudspeakers to be managed according to the system configuration. The selection of audio-grade components, together with the carefully arranged circuitry and rigid supporting feet, reflects the design's emphasis on electrical and mechanical stability.
