The Leben CS600X is a tube integrated amplifier that combines a vintage-inspired appearance with a flexible design, intended for use with different tube types and speaker impedances. Manufactured by the small and well-regarded Japanese company Leben, founded in the early 1990s, the amplifier features careful construction and attention to detail.

Although it does not include digital inputs or a built-in phono stage, the CS600X provides a headphone output and several functions designed for system adjustment, including a two-stage Bass Boost and a stereo reverse function that reverses the signal phase by 180 degrees. These features allow the amplifier to be configured according to the characteristics of the system and listening preferences.

The CS600X delivers 28 W per channel with EL34 tubes and is designed for use with reasonably efficient loudspeakers. The output tubes can be replaced with different types, including 5881, which increases the output to 32 W per channel, as well as KT66, KT77, KT88 and 6550A. This tube compatibility allows the amplifier to be configured with different output stages and operating characteristics.

The internal circuitry uses 12AU7A and 12BH7A tubes in the line stage, while a 6CM3/6DN3 tube is used in the power supply section.

For connectivity, the CS600X provides five single-ended inputs, a tape loop and a direct feed input that bypasses the integrated preamplifier circuit. A dedicated control allows the speaker impedance to be selected between 4, 6, 8 and 16 Ohm. The setting can initially be matched to the impedance recommended for the connected loudspeakers, while the other positions can also be selected to explore different system configurations.
