HEGEL H200

Integrated amplifier designed to combine source management, digital playback and signal amplification in a single component. Its Class A/B analogue power amplifier delivers 150 W per channel and maintains stable operation even with loads down to 2 Ohms, allowing it to drive speakers with demanding electrical characteristics.

SoundEngine2 technology monitors the signal to detect and correct distortion in real time before it can progress further through the amplification stage. A damping factor greater than 4000 helps control driver movement, ensuring precise low-frequency management and well-articulated dynamic reproduction.

The analogue section includes one balanced XLR input and two unbalanced RCA inputs, together with fixed and variable line-level outputs. A dedicated headphone output is also provided for private listening. The integrated phono stage supports Moving Magnet (MM) cartridges and features a circuit based on carefully selected and matched FET transistors, combined with selected operational amplifiers to minimise noise and preserve signal accuracy.

The digital architecture incorporates a DAC and a streaming section designed to operate in synergy with the amplifier. Digital inputs include coaxial, optical, USB-B, USB-A and network connections. The USB-A port allows direct playback from storage devices containing up to 10,000 tracks, while the coaxial digital output enables the signal to be transferred to an external DAC. The DAC Loop function allows an external converter to be used while retaining the H200 as the central control unit for source selection, streaming and volume adjustment.

The digital circuitry is carefully separated from the analogue section through shielding, optimised signal paths and dedicated circuit boards for the main digital components. This design aims to minimise interference and switching noise, preserving the quality of the analogue signal.

The network section supports major music streaming services and playback protocols, including Spotify Connect Lossless, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Apple AirPlay, Google Cast and Roon Ready. Through the Hegel Control app, users can manage input selection and volume, access internet radio stations and podcasts via airable, and play music libraries shared over the network through UPnP.

Integration with other system components is facilitated by the Digital Input Sense function, which allows the amplifier to switch on automatically when a digital signal is detected. Individual volume levels can also be configured for each input, and the amplifier can be programmed to learn volume commands from a television remote control, simplifying integration into audio-video systems.

Management features include adjustable start-up and maximum volume levels, automatic standby and display dimming. The amplifier also supports integration with Control4, Crestron Home and Crestron SIMPL home automation systems. Firmware and app updates help keep the system's features up to date over time.
