After the huge success of Heart Like A Wheel, in 1975 Linda Ronstadt released Prisoner in Disguise, an album that further solidified her fame as America’s most popular singer-songwriter. The album features two songs that resonated strongly with audiences: the Motown classics “Heat Wave” and “Tracks of My Tears,” both performed with masterful interpretations by Ronstadt. In addition, the album includes a banjo-backed version of Neil Young’s “Love Is A Rose,” an intensely expressive pop rendition of Jimmy Cliff’s reggae classic “Many Rivers to Cross,” and a delightful cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” Prisoner in Disguise offered fans a new set of rock, pop, and country songs, meticulously arranged to showcase Ronstadt’s exceptional talent and impeccable taste.
