Recorded in 1990 for the prestigious New York label Chesky Records, My Blue Heaven was John Pizzarelli’s first major album, marking the arrival of a remarkable talent and future Grammy Award winner. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1960, the guitarist and vocalist was accompanied on My Blue Heaven by a true jazz all-star dream team: his father and guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, trumpeter Clark Terry, double bassist Milt Hinton, and drummer Connie Kay.
On My Blue Heaven, the seven-string guitar virtuoso celebrates a wonderfully rhythmic selection of timeless jazz standards, featuring standout reinterpretations of “Candy” (Nat King Cole Trio), “Passion Flower” (Duke Ellington), and “Can’t Take You Nowhere” (Dave Frishberg).
