Jen Chapin's music is urban folk: narrative songs that explore community and shared meaning, fueled by the funk, soul and improvisation of the city. Critics have described her as “brilliant… deeply poetic” (NPR), “thoughtful… worth savoring” (People), “engaging” (Boston Globe) and “intelligent, attentive, skillful with lyrics, politically aware and emotionally intuitive” (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel). JazzTimes has called her “a first-rate storyteller”, while Relix considers her “one of the freshest voices in today's music scene”. She has released seven albums, including ReVisions: Songs of Stevie Wonder, issued by Chesky Records in 2009.

She has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, received recognition from the USA Songwriting Competition, performed onstage with Bruce Springsteen and opened concerts for Bruce Hornsby and the Neville Brothers. Her performances are intense, highlighting world-class musicianship and the rare musical rapport between her husband, acoustic bassist Stephan Crump, and guitarist Jamie Fox, with frequent special appearances by guitarist Liberty Ellman.

As an activist, educator and mother, Jen also brings the knowledge and perspective gained from her diverse experiences to workshops and presentations for university, community and church groups.
