The SVS SB-5000 R|Evolution is a sealed-box subwoofer that brings many of the advanced engineering solutions developed for the flagship 17-Ultra R|Evolution Series into a more compact enclosure, while maintaining a level of performance designed to satisfy both high-end stereo systems and the most demanding home theater installations. The acoustic suspension design prioritizes accuracy, speed, and control, enabling exceptionally linear low-frequency reproduction with extension down to 17 Hz while delivering high sound pressure levels without compromising clarity. Bass output remains tightly controlled at all times, with fast transient response and the ability to pressurize the listening room while preserving outstanding fidelity even during the most demanding program material.

At the heart of the system is a completely redesigned 15-inch driver featuring a fiberglass composite cone that combines high structural rigidity with low moving mass to ensure excellent efficiency and linear behavior. The long-excursion rubber surround, supported by dual Nomex composite spiders, allows the cone to maintain perfectly controlled motion even under the most extreme excursion conditions. The electromagnetic motor employs a dual-ferrite toroidal structure and incorporates a copper sleeve around the center pole to reduce inductance and minimize distortion, improving the accuracy with which every signal is transferred to the driver.

One of the project's most distinctive features is its dual six-layer edge-wound aluminum voice coils, engineered to increase magnetic field density while simultaneously improving heat dissipation. This configuration enables the driver to take full advantage of the available amplifier power while maintaining exceptionally precise cone control, even at the highest listening levels.

Power is provided by the proprietary STA-2000D Class D amplifier platform with a Dual Mono architecture, capable of delivering 2,000 watts RMS and more than 5,000 watts of peak power. Each amplifier section independently drives one of the two voice coils, ensuring exceptionally precise driver control and superior dynamic performance compared to conventional amplifier designs. The output stage utilizes eight discrete high-current 60A, 200V MOSFETs engineered to deliver outstanding current capability with high efficiency and minimal heat generation.

The switch-mode power supply incorporates an active Power Factor Correction (PFC) system that optimizes power consumption while maintaining stable output even under fluctuating mains voltage conditions. A dedicated line-conditioning circuit further filters electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference, helping preserve signal integrity and consistent performance. Cooling is handled by a convection-based thermal management system developed through FEA simulation, eliminating the need for external heatsinks while ensuring highly effective heat dissipation.

Overall system management is handled by a powerful 295 MHz Analog Devices DSP that continuously monitors and controls both the amplifier and driver in real time. The processor constantly tracks voltage, current, and temperature while shaping the frequency response with exceptional precision. Integrated digital-to-analog converters provide a 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio, ensuring wide dynamic range and exceptionally clean reproduction even at maximum output levels.

All primary settings can be adjusted through the SVS Subwoofer Control app, available for iOS, Android, and Fire OS devices via Bluetooth. The app provides control over volume, crossover frequency, phase, polarity, room gain compensation, six parametric equalizers, operating modes, and power management, while also allowing users to save custom presets for different listening environments. Also included is SVS Auto EQ, which uses either the smartphone's built-in microphone or an optional external microphone to analyze room acoustics and automatically optimize the frequency response by reducing room-induced resonances, cancellations, and other acoustic irregularities.

The cabinet is constructed from high-density MDF and features a 50 mm thick front baffle, extensive internal bracing, and a structure specifically engineered to eliminate unwanted vibrations and cabinet coloration. The exceptionally rigid enclosure provides an acoustically inert environment, allowing the driver to perform at its best even during the most demanding playback conditions. Completing the design are a high-rigidity ABS protective grille and elastomer isolation feet engineered to minimize vibration transmission to the floor and reduce interaction with the surrounding environment.

Connectivity includes balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA line-level inputs compatible with both consumer and professional audio equipment, an integrated OLED display for direct control of system settings, a 3.5 mm trigger input, and a USB port dedicated to powering the optional SVS SoundPath Wireless Audio Adapter, ensuring seamless integration into virtually any high-performance audio system.
