SONUS FABER GRAVIS III

The Gravis III is the mid-range model in Sonus Faber's prestigious five-model subwoofer line, embodying the exceptional build quality typical of the renowned Italian brand, known for its long tradition of craftsmanship excellence since its founding in 1983.

At the heart of the Gravis III is a 600-watt class AB amplifier (with peak power up to 900 watts), specially chosen over a class D amplifier to provide superior sound quality and a far better transient response, as stated by the manufacturer. This amplifier ensures flawless control of the subwoofer, delivering high-class dynamic performance.

The Gravis III features a 10-inch (254 mm) long-excursion driver with an ultra-rigid and lightweight diaphragm, built with a tri-laminate structure and a honeycomb central section. This driver, mounted on a robust frame, is designed to deliver deep, powerful sound, capable of reproducing the lowest frequencies with precision and clarity. The subwoofer's structure is elegant, with a cubic design and rounded corners to eliminate sharp edges. The front and sides are made of high-density fiberboard (HDF) panels, covered in soft, hand-stitched natural black leather. The top is finished with a matte walnut veneer, making it a perfect match for other Sonus Faber products, such as the Olympica Nova speaker line.

The Gravis III sits on four small rubber feet, ensuring solid stability on the floor. A black fabric grille is included. On the back, you'll find all the necessary connections, including unbalanced RCA line-level inputs for left and right channels, a balanced XLR line-level input, and a Neutrik Speakon high-level input, a connector originally developed by Neutrik, a leader in professional audio.

Additionally, the Gravis III includes a variety of convenient controls, such as a volume knob, a USB port for firmware updates, an RJ-45 jack for IP/network control, and a wireless pairing button with a blue LED indicator to show the connection status. There is also a voltage selector (230 – 115 Volts), allowing for adaptation to different power supply voltages.

The subwoofer is designed to be managed via the dedicated app (free), compatible with Android and iOS devices. This app is essential, as it is the only way to adjust phase and crossover frequency. The app offers controls for crossover, volume, 24 dB/Oct filter curves, phase, parametric equalizer, delay, and auto-off, ensuring full performance optimization based on the specific listening environment's needs.
