The REL S/812 subwoofer is designed with the ambition of delivering breathtaking performance for both music playback and cinematic soundtracks, approaching the standard of the brand’s reference-level models but at a significantly lower cost. Every aspect of its predecessor is re-evaluated with no compromises, pushing beyond previous limits in power, dynamics, and soundstage spaciousness. A new NextGen 5 Class D amplifier is introduced, capable of delivering 800 watts with substantial power reserves, supporting a 12-inch Continuous Cast Alloy™ active driver and a second 12-inch down-firing passive driver.

To handle the increased power while maintaining precision at the deepest frequencies, the active cone is reinforced on the back with a thin layer of carbon fiber. At the same time, two custom filter sets are developed, engineered to maximize both impact strength and airiness of sound. The objective is clear: to strengthen the low-frequency response between 19 and 35 Hz, drastically improve dynamics in home theater settings, and provide an even more open and immersive soundstage for a more lifelike experience.

Aesthetically and structurally, the cabinet is carefully refined to harmonize with the internal technical evolution, ensuring that every performance enhancement is expressed with clarity and precision. Additionally, the S/812 is engineered to function in 4- or 6-unit line array configurations, just like REL’s flagship systems. The result is a subwoofer that redefines the medium-sized chassis concept, elevating it to reference-level performance with elegance, power, and remarkable sonic control.
