Ultra high-end loudspeaker system embodying Infinity Systems’ expertise developed over the years. This is an imposing setup, designed for large spaces where it can fully express its potential. It is a five-way system, consisting of a pair of bass towers, each with four 12-inch woofers, and two independent vertical panels housing five different types of EM (Electro-Magnetic) drivers, including LEMIM for the lower midrange, EMIM for the midrange, EMIT for the highs, and SEMIT for the extreme highs. The crossover filters for the EM drivers are integrated into the base of the panels, while a separate electronic crossover manages the frequency split for the woofers, with dedicated controls for level, low-pass filter, high-pass filter, bass contour, and polarity.

A distinctive feature of the system is the servo-assisted control of the woofers, based on an accelerometer mounted on one of the four woofers per tower. It measures the cone’s movement speed and sends a feedback signal to the electronic crossover. This feedback system allows real-time correction of any discrepancies between the input signal and the actual cone movement, ensuring precise and deep control of the low-frequency range, down to extremely low frequencies around 20 Hz.

The system requires mandatory bi-amplification, with one section dedicated to the woofers and another to the upper panels, which still receive the full frequency range to ensure phase and response coherence. System adjustment requires care: the bass towers should be positioned away from room corners to avoid resonances, while the panels must be placed at least 1.5 meters from the rear wall, with the listening position no less than 2.5 meters away. This ensures proper integration of the wavefronts.

The sound produced by the IRS Beta system is characterized by high transparency, neutrality, and detail. The combination of EM drivers, thanks to their extremely low mass compared to traditional dynamic speakers, ensures an incredibly fast and controlled response across the entire mid and high-frequency range. The result is a realistic reproduction, capable of revealing even the subtlest nuances of recordings, including differences between amplifiers, cables, and even sonic variations caused by equipment warming up.

Woofer control, with its multiple adjustments, takes time to optimize. However, once the ideal balance is found, the system achieves depth, articulation, and control of low frequencies like few others. The IRS Beta does not aim for exaggerated bass but for the most natural and believable low end, enhancing the information contained in recordings without ever making it excessive or intrusive.

It requires care, attention, and a suitable environment but, in return, offers an extraordinarily realistic and musical listening experience.
