The Vandersteen Quatro represents an intelligent and accessible evolution of the prestigious 5A model. From their introduction, they have achieved great success by combining the tonal naturalness and depth typical of reference loudspeakers with a versatility that makes them suitable for a wide variety of listening environments. More compact than the 3A Signature, they feature a sophisticated four-way architecture in which each component is designed to work in perfect time and phase coherence, true to Richard Vandersteen’s design philosophy.

Inside the cabinet lies a 250-watt powered subwoofer dedicated to the lowest frequencies, from 24 to 100 Hz, driven by two 8-inch carbon-loaded cellulose woofers operating in push-pull configuration. This solution, derived from the 5A, ensures deep, controlled bass perfectly integrated with the rest of the spectrum. The subwoofer amplifier takes its signal directly from the main speaker terminals, preserving the sonic character of the connected amplifier and ensuring a consistent tonal balance throughout the frequency range. A first-order passive high-pass filter, positioned after the main amplifier, creates a gentle 6dB crossover between the subwoofer and the rest of the drivers, maintaining tonal coherence and natural sound reproduction.

The bass module can be finely tuned thanks to level, contour, and eleven-band equalization controls, allowing precise adaptation to the room acoustics and listener preferences. The midbass driver employs a proprietary 6.5-inch composite cone, while the critical midrange, operating from 900 Hz to 5 kHz, features a curvilinear design that minimizes internal reflections and enhances transient clarity. The tweeter, directly derived from the 5A, is a 1-inch ceramic-coated aluminum dome that extends beyond 30 kHz, delivering an airy, transparent sound rich in micro-detail.

The Quatro Wood version adds an extra touch of elegance, replacing the traditional acoustically transparent fabric covering with real wood veneer panels. Beyond its refined aesthetics, it benefits from further technical refinements, sharing the same midrange and tweeter as the 5A and incorporating an internal phenolic/epoxy structure that stiffens the cabinet and minimizes resonance. The result is a speaker that combines beauty, precision, and musicality, capable of disappearing acoustically into the room and recreating a soundstage that is realistic, deep, and perfectly organized.

The M5 High-Pass filter is designed to integrate seamlessly with the Quatro line, providing an ideal interface between the preamplifier and the power amplifier.
