Three-way loudspeaker from the Definition series, designed to achieve dynamic and precise reproduction through a configuration developed to minimize unwanted cabinet effects. The particular trapezoidal shape of the enclosure reduces the formation of internal standing waves and limits cancellation phenomena that can affect the loudspeaker's performance.

The model uses a Dual Concentric™ driver, Tannoy's patented technology that combines the driver for the low frequencies and the driver for the upper frequencies within the same assembly. The die-cast chassis provides a rigid structure, while the oversized magnet assembly contributes to stable operation even when the loudspeaker is used at high power levels.

To make the most of the relatively compact cabinet dimensions, the D500 employs a double-chamber bass reflex system. This configuration provides greater low-frequency extension while maintaining control, with a response suitable also for reproducing music characterized by wide dynamic variations.

The D500's design draws on Tannoy's experience in professional sound recording and reproduction. The model is designed to provide wide dynamic range, precise stereo imaging and good detail resolution, making it suitable for pairing with high-end electronics.
