The Tannoy Prestige GR Canterbury GR-OW is a reference floorstanding loudspeaker in the British brand’s range, designed to deliver an extremely realistic and immersive listening experience in large rooms. The design is based on a 235-litre cabinet and a sensitivity exceeding 96 dB, ensuring outstanding efficiency and very high dynamic capability, with peak power handling up to 600 watts.

At the heart of the system is the new 15-inch Gold Reference Dual Concentric driver, a direct evolution of Tannoy’s historic unit and developed using technologies derived from the flagship Kingdom Royal project. This transducer integrates the bass and high-frequency sections into a single structure, ensuring perfect phase coherence and precise imaging, a hallmark of the Dual Concentric philosophy.

The low-frequency section uses a fibre-reinforced paper pulp cone designed to improve rigidity, control, and dynamic response, while the dual-profile impregnated fabric surround enhances damping and natural reproduction. This combination delivers deep, articulate bass that remains controlled even at high sound pressure levels.

The high-frequency section features a fully updated compression driver with a heat-treated aluminium-magnesium alloy diaphragm, improving mechanical stability and accuracy in reproduction. Advanced materials such as Mylar in the suspension system further enhance control and dispersion, ensuring exceptionally clear, detailed, and fatigue-free high-frequency performance even at high listening levels.

The Alnico magnetic system and PepperPot WaveGuide technology contribute to a uniform and symmetrical sound dispersion, improving imaging focus and the naturalness of the soundstage. The result is a highly precise, stable, and three-dimensional stereo presentation.

The high-density birch plywood cabinet is designed to ensure structural rigidity and excellent resonance control, while DMT (Differential Materials Technology) provides optimal coupling between driver and enclosure, reducing unwanted vibrations and improving overall coherence. The Variable Distributed Port system allows bass response to be adapted to the listening environment, optimising extension and control according to room acoustics.

The construction includes carefully selected high-grade components such as low-loss capacitors and inductors, along with high-quality binding posts designed to ensure maximum signal purity and stable transmission. A fifth terminal is also present, in line with Tannoy tradition, intended to reduce interference and improve midrange clarity.

The design combines tradition and refinement, featuring oiled walnut veneer and anodised aluminium details that highlight the handcrafted and timeless character of the project.
