Floorstanding loudspeaker from the Reference series, designed to deliver high efficiency, substantial dynamic capability and sound reproduction suitable for medium to large listening rooms. Its high sensitivity allows it to achieve significant sound pressure levels even when driven by relatively low-powered amplifiers, making it compatible with a variety of electronics, including valve amplifiers.

The acoustic configuration features a compression driver with an approximately 1.75-inch titanium diaphragm, paired with a Tractrix horn offering controlled dispersion of 90° horizontally and 60° vertically. Low and mid-bass frequencies are handled by two 10-inch woofers featuring Cerametallic cones, rubber surrounds and die-cast aluminium baskets. The transducers incorporate generously sized magnetic systems designed to handle high sound levels while maintaining good control during playback.

The cabinet incorporates internal bracing to help reduce vibrations and minimise the formation of standing waves. Internal sound-absorbing material further contributes to cabinet damping, while the two large-diameter rear bass-reflex ports, featuring flared openings, facilitate airflow and reduce turbulence during low-frequency reproduction.

The specified frequency response extends from 32 Hz to 20 kHz, with a crossover frequency of 2,200 Hz. The combination of the two woofers and the compression driver delivers impactful sound, fast transient response and the ability to reproduce the dynamic variations of music. The design also aims to balance efficiency, low-frequency extension and soundstage definition, rather than focusing exclusively on sound pressure levels.

With a specified sensitivity of 102 dB, the Klipsch RF-7 is suitable for use with amplifiers of varying power ratings and circuit designs. The choice of electronics allows the listener to prioritise different characteristics in terms of control, articulation and low-frequency performance. Its overall design makes it well suited to musical genres with wide dynamic swings, such as rock, orchestral jazz and film soundtracks, as well as to stereo listening and home theatre systems.
