Although its enclosure measures 40.0" in height, 11.1" in width, and 14.8" in depth, it never looks “boxy,” and its sound is equally refined. The speaker sits firmly on the floor thanks to a cast-aluminum base that tapers to a point at the front, aligning with the grille’s prow. While the grilles are removable, they are acoustically transparent and can remain in place without affecting sound quality. Sensitivity of 91.5 dB/W/m makes the speaker suitable even for moderate-power amplifiers, provided they can deliver sufficient current, as the minimum impedance can drop to 2.9 ohms. Focal recommends amplifiers from 40 to 250 W per channel.

Ideal placement positions the speakers about 1.8 m apart and 0.9 m from the front wall, with no toe-in required. Horizontal dispersion is wide, and the optimal listening area forms an equilateral triangle between the speakers and the listening position. Outside this area, performance remains good, but within the sweet spot, detail and three-dimensionality are maximized.
