To celebrate its rich heritage, Wharfedale created the Heritage Series, reimagining some of the most iconic loudspeakers from its past using modern materials, engineering, and manufacturing techniques. One of the most successful models in this collection is the Linton, a loudspeaker that pays tribute to a design first introduced in 1965 and produced in various forms until the late 1970s. The original Linton was regarded as a serious hi-fi loudspeaker while remaining accessible to a wide audience, thanks to its generously sized cabinet and three-driver configuration.

The modern Linton retains the unmistakable character and proportions of its predecessor while benefiting from decades of acoustic development. Its three-way design, now a rarity in contemporary loudspeaker manufacturing, preserves the classic format that made the original model so highly regarded among music lovers.

The Linton features an 8-inch (200 mm) woven Kevlar woofer mounted on a rigid die-cast chassis, delivering deep, controlled, and articulate bass performance. Above it sits a dedicated 5-inch (135 mm) woven Kevlar midrange driver housed in its own internal enclosure, ensuring excellent clarity and openness throughout the critical midrange frequencies. High frequencies are handled by a 1-inch (25 mm) soft-dome tweeter equipped with a high-flux ferrite magnet, providing smooth, detailed, and natural treble reproduction.

Like the beloved Linton models of the 1960s and 1970s, the current version is renowned for its rich, natural, and engaging sound character. However, every aspect of its performance has been significantly refined. Bass response is deeper and more controlled, the midrange is more transparent and expressive, and the overall presentation offers greater dynamics, scale, and realism. The result is an immersive listening experience that invites long listening sessions, allowing listeners to become fully absorbed in the music, album after album.

Authenticity is central to the Linton’s appeal. The cabinet is beautifully finished with hand-applied real wood veneers, reflecting the craftsmanship and timeless aesthetics of classic hi-fi design. Matching stands, specifically designed for the Linton, position the speakers at the ideal listening height while providing excellent rigidity and vibration control. Finished with veneered wooden panels that complement the speakers themselves, the stands also incorporate practical storage space for vinyl records, combining functionality with elegant retro-inspired styling.
