The Vestlyd V12C loudspeakers are designed to deliver high sound pressure levels and performance typically associated with much larger loudspeakers. With a sensitivity of 93 dB and low distortion, they are designed for a dynamic and engaging listening experience. The cabinet features a heavy and rigid construction intended to minimize unwanted vibrations and resonances.

The V12C combines a retro-inspired design with an acoustic approach aimed at listeners who appreciate a forward presentation and high sound pressure levels. The bass range is characterized by a firm and fast response, with strong impact and controlled dynamics. The overall presentation maintains a realistic balance without excessive compactness or artificially emphasized low frequencies, while individual musical events remain clearly localized and the relationships between the performers are easily discernible. The soundstage extends toward the listening position, creating an engaging presentation without becoming intrusive.

The cabinet measures 392 × 622 × 367 mm and is constructed from thick MDF panels, with a 30 mm-thick front baffle. Each loudspeaker weighs approximately 24 kg and incorporates a rigid internal structure with horizontal and vertical reinforcement elements designed to increase lateral rigidity and minimize cabinet resonances, including at high playback levels.

The V12C uses a 12-inch woofer with a paper cone and a coaxially mounted titanium tweeter diaphragm. The tweeter is a compression driver in which the diaphragm operates into a pressure chamber with a smaller diameter than the diaphragm itself. This configuration increases air velocity and efficiency. An aluminum waveguide lens is positioned in front of the tweeter to provide a relatively wide radiation pattern.

The coaxial driver assembly is shaped according to the principles of horn-loaded construction, contributing to the high sound pressure capability of the loudspeaker. Low-frequency reproduction is reinforced by two front-firing bass-reflex ports integrated into the front baffle.

The front waveguide allows the tweeter to maintain a relatively wide spatial dispersion. The upper-frequency response gradually decreases while retaining a degree of openness, avoiding excessive brightness and contributing to comfortable long-term listening.

The rear panel features speaker terminals supporting two parallel connection methods. In addition to conventional banana or screw connections, the V12C provides Neutrik Speakon connectors, a connection standard commonly used in professional audio systems.

Vestlyd develops the various driver components as a coordinated system, from the voice coil to the cone, using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) during development. The design process focuses on uniform dispersion, high sound pressure levels and low distortion.

The high SPL capability is supported by the 93 dB sensitivity rating measured at 2.83 V/1 m. The manufacturer specifies a maximum sound pressure level of up to 130 dB, made possible by the driver configuration and overall system design.

The coaxial configuration is designed to reduce the narrow horizontal dispersion typically associated with this type of driver arrangement. The V12C is designed to provide wide dispersion, consistent time alignment and uniform sound distribution, including at higher frequencies where dispersion becomes more critical. This approach expands the listening area beyond a narrowly defined central sweet spot.

The V12C can be positioned on the dedicated V12C Stands, which provide a slight rearward inclination intended to direct the tweeter output toward the listener's ear position. Alternatively, the loudspeakers can be placed directly on the floor or on a low shelf, using their fixed, heavy-duty rubber feet designed for stable positioning.
