The Tannoy Devon was introduced in the mid-1970s as the largest bookshelf reference model in the English brand’s lineup and remains an iconic loudspeaker, valued by both enthusiasts and sound professionals. It features the 32 cm HDP315A concentric driver, regarded as the most balanced of its era, capable of delivering a particularly natural and detailed midrange. The integration of the direct-radiating woofer and high-frequency compression driver, housed within the same frame and sharing the same AlNiCo magnet assembly, ensures tonal coherence and precise imaging — qualities that made this model a preferred choice in many recording studios and broadcasting facilities worldwide.

With a sensitivity of 89 dB at 1 W/1 m, rising to 96 dB at 5 W, the Tannoy Devon can easily be driven by low- or very-low-powered amplifiers, while still maintaining excellent control and handling with more demanding loads. Its bass reflex design delivers deep, controlled low frequencies with impressive impact relative to the cabinet’s relatively compact dimensions. The balance between driver size and cabinet volume allows it to adapt well to different environments, unlike its larger siblings that require more spacious rooms to perform at their best.
